Financial Donations
We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.
-Winston Churchill
As a non-profit, COMRC relies heavily on donations from the community to continue operations and provide public displays.
Donations help cover the many costs of building, maintaining, storing, and running our layouts. Any amount can help! From $5 to $5,000 and everything in between.
We are designated a 501(c)(3) charity by the IRS, meaning that your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed. (Consult a tax advisor for more information. We know trains, not taxes.)

Donating Items
The best thing to do with the best things in life is to give them away.

We gladly accept donations of any model trains and related equipment, or other items that might benefit the club in some way.
Donated equipment may be incorporated into either a new or existing layout, saved for possible future use, or sold on the secondary market if we determine we absolutely won’t be able to use it.

Selling Items
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
-Unknown
COMRC does not buy model railroad items or collections from individuals or estates, nor sell items on consignment.
Your best option for selling unwanted model trains and equipment is usually through online sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. This is where you will reach the widest possible audience, and are likely to get the best price.
Alternatively, items can be sold through local hobby shops (such as those listed on our sponsors page), classified ads, local papers, and yard sales. Some online sites and hobby shops will also buy large collections.
We will let our members know about any items for sale if provided with clear and specific information such as locomotive types, features and manufacturer, rolling stock details, and photos of the items. We also need a contact name, and a phone number or email address.
